Love has always been considered as eternal. No matter if it is getting on the right path or the wrong one. Well! You can’t actually and don’t care about the path on which you are walking. When you are in love, all what matters to you is the person with whom you want to grow old.
An author, Varsha Dixit is one of the renowned authors in India. She is known for her love stories. The way she writes is her USP. She leaves a benchmark on readers’ mind because the way of writing is such. This beautifully talented author is all set to launch her new book “Rightfully Wrong, Wrongfully Right” next month.
Her debut novel “Right Fit Wrong Shoe” was the bestseller and was welcomed by the readers with open hands. I got an amazing opportunity to interview this beauty recently. So, let’s find out what all secrets she has got to share with us.
- Why this book is special to you?
Ans. ‘Rightfully Wrong Wrongfully Right’ is the 3rd and very special part in the ‘Right and Wrong’ series. When I wrote the last word of the last scene for ‘Rightfully Wrong Wrongfully Right’ inadvertently my eyes teared up and this surprised me. My characters and story are very emotional yet I’m very stoic and calm when I write. Thus, I guess somehow even my mind recognized that this one was special. This bookends the series that helped me realize my dream of becoming an author.
- Now a days, we see many romantic novels coming up now and then, how your book is different from them?
Ans. That’s a great question. Yes I do write romantic stories and yes there are many others who do the same. However, my stories probably vary from others as my stories are not only about romance. They are about friendships, about sibling relationship, about families and about societies. My stories are a genuine effort, on my part, to provide the milieu of readers, young and old, with a humorous read, without overlooking the intelligence and thinking quotient of our personalities.
- What motivates you to write such beautiful stories?
Ans. An over imaginative mind that never stops churning out plots, my obsession with the written word and the love of my readers motivates me to keep writing.
- Please share your journey with my readers.
Ans. When I started writing ‘Right Fit Wrong Shoe’ in 2006 it was more of a cathartic process. Grieving over my father’s demise who I was extremely close to, I needed something to bring equilibrium. Something that was far removed from the emotional turmoil I was undergoing. Thus I started writing random thoughts and disjointed story ideas. The idea that appealed most to me was a story of best friends. That was 2006 and this is 2016 and here I’m still happily writing away.
- Can you throw some light on the main characters of this book?
Ans. Friendships have always played a very important role in my life and continue to do so. Friends are the family we choose and I have to say I chose well. My ‘Right and Wrong’ series is about three friends, three different women in three different phases of their lives. The first book was about a single and small town girl and the second one about a single, working mother.
‘Rightfully Wrong Wrongfully Right’ is the story of Gayatri Dutta, an NRI girl who decides to settle in India and her ensuing trials and tribulations dealing with the parental and societal pressures. How she comes to be her own person and the man she falls in love with.
- If not an author, then what would be your field of interest?
Ans. If not an author, I would have probably been jobless. 🙂
- If you get an opportunity to convert any of your book to a movie, then which one it would be? Plus whom you want the actors to play the main characters of the respective book?
Ans. If I get an opportunity, I would like to convert all my books into celluloid adaptation. Casting is the director’s vision but I have to say my favourite actresses are Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone and favorite actors, Shahrukh Khan, Irfan Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. That is to name a few. The list is rather long!
- Can I peep into your personal life? If yes, then please tell some interesting facts about you to my readers?
Ans. Yes, you may peep in my personal life. But I’m quite a boring person. I like to read, watch movies and swim. Spending time with my family, watching movies with my husband and hanging out with my gal pal brigade is what I do the most.
- To all the new comers or who want to become a successful author, what tips and tricks you would like to share with them?
Ans. Writing a book is a lonely job with a few chances of a big paycheck. But if you love writing with a deep seated passion and it drives you then there is nothing more gratifying than to follow this dream. So keep at it and don’t forget to be your worst critic.
- Why people should pick your romantic novel? Few lines for your new book.
Ans. ‘Love is in the air again… this time it’s steamy, bold and manipulative!
Gayatri and Viraj both are products of childhood trauma. Yet they were able to survive, one because of her shrewdness and the other because of his genius. Rightfully Wrong Wrongfully Right, the final part in the best selling ‘Right and Wrong’ love trilogy is the story of these two damaged souls.
It is a battle of wills and desire. Will Gayatri and Viraj prove to be each other’s salvation or annihilation?
All the favourite characters of the earlier two bestsellers, Nandini Sharma, Aditya Sareen, Sneha Verma and Nikhil Chandel make a comeback in unforgettable story of hurt, hearts and hope.
This is a tumultuous journey of two Wrongs who might just make everything Right.’
